All sailing courses are taught by US Sailing Association certified instructors.

Students who are just starting out should enroll in our ten-hour Basic Sailing course. Classes are taught on 19-foot OMF sailboats. Students enjoy the safety of Oswego Harbor, and can venture into Lake Ontario as their skills and weather conditions permit.

Bring yourself, your family, your friends! The foundation offers private, semi-private, and group lessons. Ask about group discounts. All OMF members receive a 10% discount on course fees.

NEW COURSE! "My First Boat" Custom designed for the first time boat owner -- on your own boat!

US Sailing Level 1 Instructor This is a 40-hour course designed to nationally certify Level 1 instructors for yacht clubs and sailing organizations. For complete course description and fees, visit US Sailing at http://www.ussailing.org/training/calendar/sb_calendar.asp.

Adult Basic Sailing Learn personal safety, terminology, rigging, knots, landing, steering, stopping, and more. All lessons include on-the-water instruction. Maximum class size is six. Cost: $ 175, includes text .

Intermediate Sailing This course includes single sail and sloop rigged sailing vessels, points of sail, and sail trim. Prerequisite is the Basic Sailing course or instructor's permission. Maximum class size is six. Cost: $ 175.

Private Lessons Private lessons are available for varying skill levels. Lesson times are arranged between the instructor and student(s). Call the OMF Boating Education Center, 315-342-0882, after May 1 for more information and prices.

Supervised Sailing and Practice These courses are for students who have passed one of our courses and who want additional practice. Call the OMF Boating Education Center, 315-342-0882, after May 1 for more information and prices.

US Coast Guard Licensing Exam Preparation This course prepares students to take the US Coast Guard captain's licensing exam. Call the OMF main office, 315-342-5753, for information and pricing.
