"My First Boat!"

A new course offered by the Oswego Maritime Foundation

This course will be customized to the owner's experience level. The course is not intended as a substitute to a safe boating course, but as a supplement that allows the new boat owner to experience an enjoyable and safe orientation to his new vessel.

The instruction will be conducted on the owner's boat. All aspects of boat ownership can be covered: from basic maintenance, trailer launching, and retrieving, safety requirements, safe docking, and departure techniques, rules and techniques to navigate safely, as well as basic instruction in power boat operation or sailing skills.

The instructor, Joe Rotolo, is a competent life time boater, certified instructor, and a retired teacher who loves all maritime activities.

Duration: 4 hour segments. Additional segments as required or requested.
Participants: The boat owner, spouse and up to two children 12 years and older.
Schedule: Saturday mornings 8 -1 2 AM and weekdays 4 - 8 pm, by reservation only.
Location: At the OMF boating education center.
Tuition: $200 per four hour segment. A $100 per week docking fee will be required if the boat must be left at the OMF facility. The boat must be USCG safety equipped and registered.
